Apronectomy for patients with a higher BMI

At Kat & Co we have very strict requirements for patients who wish to undergo an abdominoplasty procedure at the clinic due to the risk of associated complications and potential for poor results. An apronectomy may be recommended to patients with a higher BMI. An apronectomy is a procedure to remove the excess hanging skin and fat over the lower abdomen. It is less extensive and invasive than a full abdominoplasty and so is suitable for patients with a higher BMI.

The aim of the surgery is purely functional - to remove the excess hanging tissue on the lower abdomen. Benefits include:

  • Improves symptoms including rashes, blistering and irritation
  • Increases mobility by removing the heavy hanging tissue
  • Patients may find weight loss easier following the procedure due to increased mobility
  • A tummy tuck can be performed after further weight loss to remove excess skin

How much does Apronectomy cost?

Apronectomy starts from £10,500 as a daycase procedure at the clinic. We also offer finance to spread the cost of your procedure.

This procedure can be performed as a daycase procedure at the clinic if your BMI is below 30, or in hospital with an overnight stay if your BMI is above this.

Recovery

Stay mobile and well hydrated at home. In the first week you should be within the home. In the second week after the team has ensured your wounds are mending well, you could venture out of the home for short walks, but not drive for two weeks. Time off work is usually one month and time off sport is usually six weeks.
