V Beam Skin Laser Now Available at Kat & Co

We are delighted to announce that our new V Beam skin laser is now available to treat our patients at Kat & Co.

TeamKat€™s Dr Sonia Khorana will be offering a host of V Beam skin laser treatments for a wide variety of skin conditions including rosacea and facial & spider veins to name a few.

We asked Dr Sonia to give us her thoughts on the V Beam skin laser and explain the many benefits our patients will enjoy through the treatments she can provide.

What is V Beam Skin Laser?

The V Beam is a pulsed dye laser (PDL) and often referred to as a vascular laser. It is known as the gold standard laser for treating rosacea, birthmarks and vascular lesions and we are delighted to offer it at Kat & Co.

What can V Beam Skin Laser treat?

The V beam can treat a variety of skin conditions, including rosacea, port wine stains, facial redness, telangiectasia (broken capillaries) facial and spider veins, venous lakes, small haemangiomas, poikiloderma, Campbell de Morgan spots, post inflammatory erythema (redness after acne) and even help with keloid scars.

How many sessions will I need?

V Beam treatments can vary depending on the concern and the desired outcome for each patient. On average, three to five sessions are needed to see a significant improvement and These sessions should be spaced four to six weeks apart. Depending on the specific concern, the number of sessions can be increased or decreased based on the needs of the patient and the desired result.

What happens during the treatment?

We will go through your medical history and make sure you are suitable for this laser. A small laser test patch to an area of the lesion may then be performed to confirm the correct treatment settings. Pain or discomfort during the procedure is minimal, and it is safe to use on all areas of the face and body and in most cases, the treatment is performed on the skin without any local anaesthetic.

I will always ensure our patients are as comfortable as possible during all stages of their treatment with us. We will both wear protective eyewear as the V Beam laser will produce a bright beam of light that will gently heat the blood vessels of the affected area of skin.

Is there any downtime with V Beam?

I am pleased to say there is usually minimal downtime, but some patients may bruise temporarily (5-10 days), although this is rare when treating facial blood vessels. Minimal redness can last just a few hours in most cases, and in some people mild swelling may occur.

I provide bespoke aftercare advice at the end of each treatment that I recommend patients follow. This is to help achieve the best results possible from the treatment and to minimise complications.
