What is Vaser Liposuction?

Traditional liposuction has been effective for decades, helping patients get rid of unwanted pockets of fat and contour their bodies. But it does have some drawbacks, like damaging the surrounding tissue and leaving extensive bruising and swelling.

The VASER liposuction type uses ultrasound energy to loosen and liquefy the fatty tissue before it’s suctioned away. This means there is less damage to the surrounding tissue, blood vessels and nerves. This also leads to significantly less pain, bruising and swelling.

The procedure begins with the designated area being numbed. We will then make minimal and well hidden small incisions into the targeted areas and insert the Vaser cannulas. The device emits ultrasound waves at optimal frequencies to break down and emulsify the fat layer. The loosened tissue is then suctioned out through the same port.

How does Vaser Liposuction work?

During Vaser liposuction, ultrasound frequencies are used to disrupt and liquefy the fat cells, making them easier to remove than traditional liposuction techniques. This allows me to easily sweep away the liquified fat with the cannula and causes less trauma to the surrounding tissue, nerves, blood vessels, etc.

Incisions from this procedure are very small, resulting in smaller scars than other cosmetic surgeries with larger incisions. Once the fatty tissue is liquified, I insert a different cannula and suction away the unwanted fatty cells and much of the tumescent solution. The remaining fluid will be naturally absorbed by your body and oozed through the incisions made, over the days that follow the procedure. With proper aftercare, your results will be long-lasting.

Is Vaser Liposuction better than traditional Liposuction Methods?

During Vaser liposuction, ultrasound energy loosens the fat to a smoothie consistency and is then swept away by a suctioning cannula. This lessens the trauma to surrounding tissue and blood vessels, which results in a much more comfortable recovery, and a better sculpted contour.

In addition, because the liquefied fat cells are easier to remove, I can be more precise with the cannula. This allows for a more targeted fat removal, which leads to beautiful, natural-looking body contours.

For individuals that have stubborn pockets of fat that refuse to go away with diet and exercise, Vaser is a safe and effective treatment option.

What is the Downtime/Recovery?

The recovery time for Vaser Liposuction is very fast and less demanding when compared to traditional liposuction. Patients also note much less swelling and bruising. However, it is still important to follow the recovery tips and instructions given to prevent complications such as infection.

It is important to take plenty of rest after this treatment and to wear your compression garments. You may begin light exercise as soon as it feels comfortable, roughly 4 weeks post operatively, but should only progress if cleared by your surgeon.

I also always recommend that my patients undergo Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massages post procedure. This helps with swelling and bruising and is great for draining the lymphatic system of toxins. Not to mention it creates an even more contoured look!

Post Procedure Essentials

After your Vaser Liposuction procedure, you can expect to see results straight away. However, it will take time for swelling and bruising to subside so you can see the full effect of your new body shape.

Vaser is a highly precise technology that only removes fat cells and leaves other tissues unharmed. This reduces recovery time, lessens trauma and provides smoother, more natural-looking results.
